Western Province
The Western Province, Sri Lanka’s most densely populated province, covers an area of 3,593 km2 and is home to the country’s legislative capital, Sri Jayewardenepura. It is also home to Colombo, the country’s commercial hub. Almost all of the island’s major educational institutions are located in the Western Province. Universities in the state include the University of Colombo, Sri Jayewardenepura University, the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka Open University, Sir John Kotelawala Defense College, the University of Moratuwa, and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. Colombo District has an area of 642 km2 and its capital is Colombo. Other popular and important cities within the district are Dehiwala, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Homagama, Avissawella and Moratuwa. Kotte’s Urban Development Council, established in the modern buildings of Rajagiriya in the 1930s, was succeeded by the Kotte City Council, which was largely removed and reassigned to the Colombo City Council in Borella District, and Battaramulla City Council was dissolved, A small portion of Battaramulla was assigned to the Kotte City Council. Kotte City Council became Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte City Council in 1997.
Mount Lavinia is a newly created city just south of Colombo. This results from the consolidation of certain key urban suburbs and communities for management purposes. The centre includes the seaside resorts of Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia. It is also home to the Sri Lanka National Zoo, one of the largest in Asia. Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia are just south of Wellawatte on the Artery Galle Road, which runs along the country’s southern coast. In the 11th century, the city became the temporary capital on the orders of a South Indian prince. The 38-meter-long Kalutara Bridge was built at the mouth of the Kalu River and serves as an important bridge connecting the country’s western and southern borders. Great selection of fish. The underwater tunnel was nice and surprisingly long. The birdcages were large and most of the birds were roaming freely. We could see the birds enjoying their cages.
17. Ella Uda Ella Falls

49. The Gallery of Sapumal Foundation
The great number of paintings on display at the Sapumal Foundation and Gallery are mainly from the second and third quarters of the 20th century. 50. Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara
